May's Madness

The month of May has brought a crazy twist to our little lives. We are now moving out of Logan and closer to Salt Lake!! YAY!! Thanks to my super hero family we are half way moved out. I can't believe how out of shape I am when it comes to lifting heavy items. My Brother-in-Law is a robot! He was totally out doing me with heavy boxes. He ran up the stairs!! I had to stop multiple times to catch my breath. I am so grateful for my family because they really help make my life a lot easier. I am one lucky girl to be apart of this family.

Other May News:

  • I got a job!!! I will be teaching 4th grade!! I am so relieved that I got a job. I am slightly overwhelmed because I have a lot I need to do, but it is a job :)
  • I am going to meet my teaching team on the 27th. I am way excited!!
  • I only have eight and a half days till summer break! Thank goodness!!
  • My nephew thinks we live in a hotel. He said, "Dogs aren't allowed in the hotel." It makes me giggle when I think about it.
  • I will be moving close to a Target, a Zupas, and a Utah Idaho Supply store. This move was meant to be!
May was the month I have been waiting for! I just need to be patient and see things through!

April's Accomplishments

  • Coll turned 23!! He feels so old and is going through some kind of mid-life crises. He was spoiled with gifts and I still can’t get him off of the Cabela’s website. We need to take a trip down to the store so he can hold the damn fishing reels because I’m sick of looking at the pictures. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen them a million times!! He is so funny about fishing equipment. I just go for the pink stuff ;)

  • My nephew sent me a picture of Flat Stanley, and I had to go around Logan to take pictures. It was really fun to come up with creative poses.

  • Coll got a new position with Coca-Cola. That means we will most likely be staying in Logan. I really struggled with this for a couple days (bawling like a baby.) I have decided to try and be positive about it. I am happy because he deserves it. He will have weekends and holidays off which will work out great! This will also help us through the summer when I won’t be getting a pay check. See I am trying to be positive! I also made him swear to me that I get a Mini Cooper (I love those things,) a bigger motorcycle, a house, and real UGG Boots. He gladly agreed because he knew he wouldn’t win the battle.

  • I ran a mile in 7 minutes and 50 seconds. That is my best time ever!! I only had 5 of my fourth graders beat my time, but one of them is a robot and completed his mile in 6 minutes!

  • I only have 5 weeks till summer break! Thank the Lord!!

I can't believe how fast April went. I hope May brings me a teaching job!!

Stress of Grownup

I have some big decisions to make and I have NO ideas what I should do. I hate having to choose without knowing how it will turn out. This is an exciting adventure, but a real pain in my butt!! To cope with this I have baked banana bread, stuffed my face with Cheetos and JuJu Bunnies (yes, I am only picking out the pink and red ones,) and I am avoiding the things I really need to do. This isn’t going to really help me, but I need to get my mind off of this stressful situation. I have even given up on my Magic8Ball. It keeps sending me mixed answers. I hope I can make the right decision.

Update with Us

Coll and I are making bets on who has the best luck. If I get a job outside of Logan that means I have good luck, but if I get a job in Logan Coll has the better luck. Hopefully I have the better luck (keep your fingers crossed for me.) What I have learned about myself during this job search:

  1.  I hate filling out applications! They take forever and I get bored doing them
  2.  I talk too fast. I have had two people from interviews tell me I talk too fast
  3.  I am passionate about what I do. I had a principal tell me I shouldn’t have a problem finding a job and that I was very enthusiastic about teaching. That really helped me feel that I am in the right career
  4.  I am not a patient person. I want to get a job ASAP!! I hate this waiting around. I am a planner and need to start planning my classroom and lessons. This is driving me nuts!!

Hopefully I will find a job soon :)

Coll and I got our tax return! We were responsible and did the adult thing by paying some debt and saving for the months I won’t get a pay check. It’s amazing how mature we are getting! We did agree to have a little spending money for each of us. I have decided to put my money toward clothes and food storage. Coll thinks I’m weird for spending my allowance on food, but it will really put my mind at ease.

New Year

This year isn’t turning out as a positive experience. Any more bad news I might go on an eating frenzy! To help with my sad, negative, and unmotivated attitude I tried to find some positives. Here is what I found:
  1. My resume is now complete! One less thing I have on my plate.
  2. I have an interview suit just in case I do get an interview.
  3. I am back at the weight I was before the holidays. Thank goodness because that was really starting to bring me down.
  4. I am stuck inside because it is too cold to go outside. This means I actually have to get my crap done. It isn’t all that positive as I’m doing it, but it will make me feel better in the long run.
  5. I found these funny pictures on Pinterest. I laugh every time I see them.
Hahahaha

Yes, I really had to milk some positive into some of these. I hope February will bring better news because January isn’t being so nice.

I have been trying to keep up with my New Year resolutions, but I think I’m going to be part of the 92% that don’t meet their goals. The cold weather is really not helping me to work out. I would rather curl up in a blanket and drink a sugar based drink of hot chocolate. I am really getting irritated with the cold! If it doesn’t go away I might punch someone (we haven’t even hit the coldest month yet. Bring it on February!!)

I don’t really pray, but there are people I know who really need it. For those of you who have already lost a family member this year, I am praying for you. For those of you who are battling disease or were just told you have cancer, I am praying for you. For those of you who just need a positive event in your life, I will pray for you too.

Cheers to 2013 for already making people battle struggles and difficulties. Let’s hope you end better than what you began with.

Christmas!!

Christmas is three days away!! I am so excited. Coll finally finished his Christmas shopping last night, which means we are officially done! I don’t like cutting it this close to Christmas, but I can’t do anything about it now. I just have to make some treats for family dinners and I will be set for the holidays.

On with my Christmas week at school….
Day one of Elf on the Shelf:

We read the book and Ralph sat by my desk. I didn’t let them name him because he is my elf! I know I am acting like a child, but they liked his name. I had one student ask if he was named after Wreck it Ralph (maybe that’s why I had that name in my head.)
Day two of Elf on the Shelf:

Ralph started a naughty and nice list. He hung upside down and started writing someone’s name. It was fun to see who they thought it was.
Day three of Elf on the Shelf:

Someone touched Ralph! I was so mad. He put everyone on the naughty list, and left a note explaining why he wasn’t able to come. I almost made one kid cry because he was on the naughty list. I know it’s horrible, but I laughed. I did tell him if the class was good he could make it off the naughty list.

P.S. I purposely misspelled my name. I was trying to throw off the kids about who was moving Ralph.

Day four of Elf on the Shelf:

Ralph was able to come back to the class. He put everyone on the nice list. He hid by the TV at the beginning of the day, but got tangled in our math wrap ups during prep. Silly Ralph!

Day five of Elf on the Shelf:

It was the last day of school before winter break. It was a half day, which made it even better. Ralph took a picture with our webcam and yes, he is picking his nose. He then hung back by my desk for the rest of the day.

Now Ralph moves around the house for Coll to find. He acts like it’s lame, but he moves him too and eats the treats Ralph leaves him. He is such a weirdo.

Weekend

Blogging from a computer is soooo much easier than an iPad. I can actually order the pictures the way I want, and it’s faster; anyway on with this weekend. This weekend has been awesome! I graduated from college! YAY! The day finally came. To celebrate I went out to dinner with my family. I hope my family knows how thankful I am for all they do. Their company was more than enough, but they went even farther and gave me very thoughtful gifts. I was completely spoiled! THANK YOU Family!

Coll let me get an Elf on the Shelf. I named him Ralph! Isn’t he so cute?

I’ve been hiding him places with notes for Coll, but the real fun starts tomorrow. My co-teacher is letting me bring him into class. It will be way fun to see how the kids react to Ralph.

Coll had his work party last night. We ended up with a DVD player instead of the camping oven I originally had. Stupid gift swapping poems! The guy who ended up with the oven wanted to trade, but his beast of a wife wouldn’t let him. Stupid wives ruin everything! It’s okay though, we traded it in for a gift card, which helped buy Coll’s big gift for Christmas. Without that card he wouldn’t have gotten what he wanted so, I guess it worked out for the best.

My running hasn't been going so well. It's been three days :( The cold weather isn't helping my motivation. This week I will do better!!!
